Sunsets in Africa

‘Sunsets In Africa’ is metaphorically a reflection on older age, and acquired wisdom to be passed on. 

It’s about the gradual slowing down in our later years, when we tend to contemplate our lives and how we lived them.

(The title notwithstanding), I was seeking a sense of duality with ‘Sunsets,’ as to whether it was evening time, or deep night in the scene. 

I wanted that vague, and open to interpretation.

Whether it is day or night, I wanted to convey with this painting the idea of fulfillment, and that my subjects, the rhinos, are now at rest, and peaceful.
