What Is Home? (Or, House In The Wilderness)
This watercolor piece is inspired by the idea of a home, and the passage of time.
It is an enigmatic piece, and makes me happy and sad at once when I look at it.
It came about from a question, “What is Home?” which I overheard as a snippet of conversation in some public place, many years ago. The question stayed with me.
Is it the four walls? A safe spot? Happy childhood memories? (Maybe sad childhood memories?)
Just a circumstance one lives through? A passing, impermanent thought.
...Perhaps it is safety, security, and freedom from material lack?
Or maybe! It is a place set apart from a world of fear and doubt. To share with loved ones, if one is lucky enough to have them?
It is mysterious and mercurial to me. It changes with the seasons.
-What do you see, when you look?
