24" x 12" Acrylic on Studio Canvas
This was the second piece for my Gods and Monsters Series, and created the direction for this group of paintings.
I rediscovered this uncompleted piece, while working on 'Dragon The First'.
The idea that dragons are elemental creatures of fire, water, earth and air, made me think of one that was made of the land, instead of just a mystical part of it.
I determined then to complete it, to make my two Dragons a pair and a set.
Regarding Dragons:
Dragons in the Western world embody the forces in life that keep us from our goals. They tend to personify rage and fear, greed and malice. They can illustrate life's challenge, and its relentless demands on our time and inner resources.
-I like to think that each of us has a personal, metaphoric Dragon to face and overcome, to succeed in our lives. To overcome its power over us, we must know who we are.
-My hardy Ranger in this piece, (much like me, many times in life), thinks he is prepared,
but simply has NO idea, ha!
